This plate is from Georg Braun and Franz Hogenberg's 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum', showing a bird's-eye view of the city of Edinburgh, with four standing figures in the foreground. A date of 1572 suggested in graphite by previous owner (bottom right). The reverse features a page of text printed in blackletter script, with the heading 'Edenburg'.
