Metellus Pius Scipio Nasica (Metellus Scipio), Roman Politician and General, with Marcus Eppius M.f., as Legate, Silver Denarius (3.71g, 18mm), Military mint traveling with Scipio in Africa 47 - Spring 46 BC. Obv. Laureate head of Africa right, wearing elephant skin headdress, grain ear to inner right, "Q METELL" to outter left, "SCIPIO IMP" to left, ploug below. Rev. Hercules stands facing with club set on rock, "EPPIVS" to right, "LEG· F·C" to left. Crawford 461/1; Sydenham 1051. Oval flan and a bit off centre losing some devices, deeply toned, near Very Fine / good Fine.
