ROMAN REPUBLIC, L. Titurius L.f. Sabinus, as Triumvir Monetalis (moneyer), Silver Denarius (3.85g, 19mm), 'Betrayal and Greed of Tarpeia' commemorative issue, Rome mint 89 BC. Obv. Head of the Sabine King Tatius right, "SABIN" to left, palm branch to lower right. Rev. Tarpeia, daughter of Spurius Tarpeius, buried by shields up to her waist as she attempts to fight off two Sabine soldiers who continue to crush her with their shields, crescent and star above, "L· TITVRI" in exergue.
