ROMAN REPUBLIC, L. Aurelius Cotta, as Triumvir Monetalis (moneyer), Silver Denarius (3.85g, 20mm), Rome mint 105 BC. Obv. Draped bust of Vulcan right, wearing a laureate pileus, "X-" monogram (mark of value) and tongs to left, all within myrtle wreath. Rev. Eagle stands right perched atop thunderbolt, head turned back left, "H" to right field, "L· COT" below, all within laurel wreath. Crawford 314/1c; Sydenham 577a. Nicely toned and well centred, Very Fine.
