ROMAN REPUBLIC, Q. Caecilius Metellus Balearicus, as Triumvir Monetalis (moneyer), Silver Denarius (3.71g, 18mm), Rome mint 130 BC. Obv. Head of Roma right, wearing winged Attic helmet, "X-" monogram (mark of value) to lower right, "Q· METE" (ME & TE ligate) to left. Rev. Jupiter, holding palm frond and thunderbolt, commands quadriga right, "ROMA" in exergue. Crawford 256/1; Sydenham 509. Nicely toned, well struck and choice centring, Very Fine.
