MAGNA GRAECIA, Sicily, "Athl-", Æ Unit (14mm), circa 344-339 BC. Obv. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet, "[AΘΛ]" to right. Rev. Female figure seated right, holding bow and branch. Calciati 2; HGC 2, 233. Very rare coin of 'Athl-', typical roughness and with dark green patina, good Fine. “Athl-“ was a mint in Sicily that produced bronze coins between 344 BC and 180 BC – very little is known about the city.
