Description
Oil on board, 33.5 x 48.5cm (image), 57.5 x 73cm (frame). Signed lower left: 'K Wenzel.' An original painting in excellent overall condition. Colours still appear luminous and vibrant. Artist biography affixed to the reverse. Minor aging to frame. Back has some spotting from age. High original retail value. Provenance: From a significant private collection (Brisbane, Qld). An appealing depiction of the Belubula River, situated in the central west region of New South Wales, Australia. The artist has captured both the striking autumnal hues of the surrounding foliage and the reflective surface of the river to great effect. Born in Brisbane in 1930, self-taught artist Kenneth Wenzel won the Sunday Mail Art Prize at just 15 years of age and has been the recipient of numerous accolades since. Wenzel has operated a professional studio practice since 1975. His love for the Australian landscape and coastline is evident as a prevailing theme in his work. Wenzel's paintings were exhibited frequently at Galloway Galleries & Fine Art Centre (Brisbane) and James Cook Gallery (Sydney) from the late 1970s onwards. His work is represented in numerous national and international private collections. Available for local pickup, otherwise courier to be arranged and paid for by bidder. Adequate advance notice of collection is required to ensure artwork is on site. Fees may apply for late collection. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY.
