Originally from the UK, artist Anne Smith arrived in Australia in 1971. She is an alumna of Sunderland College of Art and Design (UK) and Sydney University. Smith has been exhibiting regularly since the mid 1970s to the present day. An important solo exhibition held in 2010 was entitled 'Love and the Opera', (Frances Keevil Gallery, Sydney). Smith's work is held in the National Gallery of Australia (Canberra), Murdoch private collection (USA), Manly Regional Gallery, Trinity Grammar School (Sydney), St George Medical Centre Collection, Abbotsleigh School Collection, Faculty of Law - University of Technology (Sydney), and is also represented in various other institutional and private collections across Australia, UK, New Zealand, USA and Japan.
