Adrienne Gale was an active artist over several decades, initially as a commercial artist in Sydney in the 1950s and later as a figurative painter in Brisbane. Gale was a graduate of the Queensland College of Art and also completed a Bachelor of Arts at Queensland University in the 1980s. A major retrospective exhibition of her work was held at Petrie Art Gallery (Brisbane, Qld) in 2011.
