An 18 carat yellow gold open face 45.00 millimetre pocket watch has a white enamelled dial with black printed Roman numerals and minute markers. The subsidiary dial is printed in black with Arabic numerals at 10s with seconds markers. Underneath 12o'clock is printed WM DRUMMOND & CO MELBOURNE SWISS MADE. It has black leaf and stick hands and the seconds hand is blued steel. There is a minor crack in the dial at 10 o'clock. The back of the case is engraved W.C. BROWN FROM HIS FLINDERS FRIENDS 1921. Inside the case is hallmarked with case numbers, carat, makers and town marks. The watch has a 15 sapphire jewel movement made by Longines as a private label for the retailer WM Drummond. Longines is the oldest continuously running and active watch manufacturer in the world and was established in 1867 which gives rise to superbly made and reliable watch movements. The retailer, WM Drummond was a premier jeweller in Melbourne, jewellers to the Royals, the Stars of the day, even the underworld. The pocket watch is in working order at time of lotting however will need servicing. 64 grams
