Agricultural Society of NSW 88mm bronze medal award medal to F. TOOTH & Co, for XXX STOUT and No.3 ALE, 1873, uneven reverse toning, EF, RARE.
Born in Kent, John Tooth arrived in Sydney in 1828 on the BENCOOLEN, within 7 years had set up the Kent Brewery on Parramatta Road. His three sons arrived in Sydney in 1843 on the EUPHRATES and joined the partnership. Frederick Tooth & Co dissolved when he retired in March 1873, the company carried on as Tooth & Co. When he died in London in 1893, his estate was 343,000 pounds. The legacy of this enterprising pioneer family is the Kent brewery on its original site and the famous TOOTH'S K.B. beer.
