Seated portrait of Isabella Katharina Dennistoun, nee Murray, aged about 43, eldest daughter of the Honourable Lord Cringletie, James Wolfe Murray, wife to James Dennistoun who was a Scottish Advocate, Antiquary & Art Collector. Painted 'en grisaille' (subdued colours, a mid-Victorian style), signed 'Meulnier, Sept 8th 1855, for the possessor of Cringletie' (a large manor house near Edinburgh), fitted in a gilt frame 31x27cm.
